Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines Reconstitutes Ontario Energy Board Modernization Review Panel

Fueled by advice from an independent review panel, the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines is looking to enhance stakeholder confidence in the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) by improving OEB framework and governance. This is intended to increase efficiency, improve decision making, and promote best value for consumers. Expected to take no more than 4 months, the newly reconstituted Ontario Energy Board Modernization Review Panel is predicted to identify immediate opportunities to restore trust and transparency in the energy sector, as well as improving effectiveness.

Members of the Panel are expected to follow all operating and ethical principles that are outlined in the Ontario Agencies and Appointments Directive. As such, this involves restricting Panel members from things such as: exploiting their position to benefit themselves, and accepting any gifts that could be seen to influence them into not carrying out their duties properly. Panel members are appointed by the Minister of Energy, the Hon. Greg Rickford, and include: Richard Dicerni as chair, and Cara Clairman and Bruce Campbell as members. Their appointments will end no later than December 31, 2018, but may be extended if necessary.
