Save even more with promo rebates from the Home Efficiency Rebate

As you may be aware, there are rebates available in Ontario for energy efficient upgrades to your home. The current rebate offering is put on through Enbridge Energy Inc. (Enbridge Gas), and is called the Home Efficiency Rebate. The Home Efficiency Rebate, or HER, is a rebate incentive that offers up to $5,000 for energy efficient upgrades.

Enbridge released 2 promotional packages for the HER program effective September 1, 2019. These packages offer homeowners more rebates for specific upgrades to their home. The first package includes a total rebate of $2,300! In order to take advantage of this package, you must upgrade your furnace, attic insulation, and air sealing. The second package offers a total rebate of $1,300, and you must upgrade your attic insulation and air sealing. In order to qualify for these packages, you must have your first energy assessment completed on or after September 1, 2019, upgrade the measures, and complete your final energy assessment by October 31, 2019.

HER

The Home Efficiency Rebate, or HER, is the newest rebate initiative put on through Enbridge Gas. HER offers rebates for insulation upgrades, furnace, water heater, and window and door replacements, as well as air sealing.

The first qualification step for the Home Efficiency Rebate is to have an energy assessment, or energy audit, completed on your home by a Registered Energy Advisor before any renovations have begun. The energy assessment will provide you with an energy efficiency roadmap that demonstrates where your home could see improvements from certain energy efficient upgrades. You’ll also be provided with a list of recommended upgrades, and your home will receive an EnerGuide rating

With the Home Efficiency Rebate, it’s required that you also have a final energy assessment completed after all of the renovations or upgrades have been completed. You’ll receive another updated EnerGuide label for your home that reflects your home’s new rating after your upgrades. Your Registered Energy Advisor will then submit all of your paperwork for you in order to qualify.

Limited Time Promotional Packages

Enbridge is offering 2 limited time promotion packages through the Home Efficiency Rebate. These two packages are available to those who have their first energy assessment, or energy audit, completed on or after September 1, 2019, and have their final energy assessment completed on or before October 31, 2019.

Don’t forget - You must have a pre-work and post-work energy audit, or energy assessment, completed on your home in order to qualify.

What Is An Energy Audit?

An Energy audit, or energy assessment, is a comprehensive examination of the inner and outer workings of your home. The energy audit is performed by a Registered Energy Advisor, who is licensed through Natural Resources Canada.

Your Registered Energy Advisor, or REA, will perform an air tightness test, or a blower door test, during the energy audit to measure how airtight your home is.

Your REA will also provide you with a list of recommended upgrades, as well as an EnerGuide label for your home.

Are The Energy Audits Free?

There is an upfront cost to have an energy audit completed on your home. However with the Home Efficiency Rebate, you receive over 90% of the audit fee back as part of your rebates!

If you have any questions regarding energy audit fees, or how to qualify, call the BSG office at 1-866-333-3920.
