The Return of the Enbridge Gas Home Efficiency Rebate Program

Published on June 11, 2020

For many homeowners in Ontario, the Home Efficiency Rebate program offered by Enbridge Gas has provided a way to lower the cost of energy efficiency upgrades and sustainable renovations. Unfortunately, out of an abundance of caution because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the program was suspended starting March 17, 2020. The good news is that the Ontario Home Efficiency Rebate program is now reopening as of Monday, June 15, 2020.

This means that homeowners are once again able to take advantage of up to $5,000 in Ontario energy rebates for their renovations. The Home Efficiency Rebate includes $550 for the pre- and post-energy audits performed by the Registered Energy Advisors at Barrier Sciences Group. You can find a complete breakdown of the energy rebates below.

The Ontario Home Efficiency Rebate Program Reopens June 15, 2020

To help flatten the curve, many of us found ourselves spending significantly more time at home. It is not a surprise that many of us found the energy efficiency of our homes to be less than adequate. This pandemic has made it clear how important our homes are, and how important home comfort is. You cannot have home comfort without home energy efficiency, and the Ontario Home Efficiency Rebate program is the perfect place to start.

COVID-19 and the Ontario Home Energy Rebate Program

Barrier Sciences Group takes the safety of our customers and Registered Energy Advisors just as seriously as we take improving the energy efficiency of buildings and homes. For this reason, we are changing the way we interact with homeowners when the Ontario Home Efficiency Rebate reopens. We are closely following the Enbridge Residential Post COVID-19 Policies. In addition to this, we have also created our own guidelines for our customers and staff.

Our increased safety precautions are to protect both our energy advisors and our customers. This includes maintaining a minimum distance of 6 feet, using the proper personal protective equipment, and pre-screening customers and energy advisors before entering any home. Our Registered Energy Advisors will also wipe down and sanitize any objects or areas that they come in contact with in your home. Please be prepared with your own pen for paperwork that requires a signature.

Rebooking Energy Audits for the Home Efficiency Rebate During COVID-19

If you had already booked an energy audit with us, we will call you to rebook it after the start date of June 15. You can also call us directly to rebook your energy audit. We will also run through our COVID-19 protocol with you during this phone call.

Extension of Time Limitations for the Home Energy Rebate Program During COVID-19

Even with these extra precautions, we should still be able to make it to your home and perform the energy audit within the 120-day program rule. However, if for any reason this is not possible, or if you feel unsafe with having someone enter your home, please speak with us about how we can extend the limit to the end of 2020. This also applies to customers who may not have the funds available to them when it comes time to rebook. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.
