Confirmation and Verification

Barrier Sciences Group uses a science-based approach to provide customers with a menu of quality services.  Everything we do is rooted in ethical business practices, and our primary focus is always on our customer’s specific challenges and attendant remedies.

The BSG team consists of a group of experienced engineers, architectural technologists, energy auditors, and thermographers - all of them highly trained (and certified) and with a passion for enhancing the operational performance and energy profile of the building.

The BSG approach is comprehensive and methodical.  Our 8-point building performance analysis - investigation, assessment, recommendation, initialization, management, inspection, confirmation and testing - is based on proven methodology and years of experience.

Barrier Sciences Group is always on the lookout for new technologies and approaches.  And when it comes to building envelope deep energy retrofit and weatherization, the BSG team is at the forefront - with a solution-oriented approach that addresses the challenges.

The big question for every client is:  did it work?  Beyond that:  how did it work?  And most importantly:  what was the outcome?  These are all reasonable questions, whether they are raised at project completion, or in some cases, during the term or span of the project.

As an integral part of the Barrier Sciences Group 8-point performance analysis, a range of retrofit testing procedures is initiated.  Testing provides answers to pertinent queries, while providing a “before and after” comparison of deep energy retrofit performance.

The regime of testing is designed to determine two main certainties:  the impact of retrofit actions on the building in question AND the precise level of benefit that has been achieved by those actions.  Above all, the BSG team wants to establish efficacy of work performed.

Confirmation and Verification is designed to authenticate that the present performance of the building in question displays levels of improvement as a direct result of work that has been undertaken.  At this point, BSG is focused on the performance impact of the work.

It’s also important at this stage to verify that the work performed actually had the expected after-effect.  Based on real VS theoretical results, BSG determines if it’s necessary to move to the next reasonable level of deep energy retrofit, including additional, required, actions.

Barrier Sciences Group 8-point analysis is very much client centered - it means that client input is essential at every phase.  And it’s a way of establishing an agreed upon “trigger point” - the point where retrofit actions have met the goals that were originally established.

Confirmation and Verification is equally vital to the senior staff at Barrier Sciences Group – this is the point where the team can accurately determine the effect of a retrofit, in direct relation to the original expectations.  In other words – did it work AND how did it work?

Confirmation also corroborates for both BSG and the client if there is a need for additional, relevant and appropriate action.  As always, interpretive reports are presented as a basis for new project proposals (with everything benchmarked against pre-retrofit results).

The Canada Greener Homes Grant offers home efficiency renovation grants up to $5,000.

Homeowners Canada-wide are eligible for the Canada Greener Homes Grant, announced on May 27, 2021. This new incentive offers up to $5,000 in grants for home efficiency retrofit renovations, plus a $600 reimbursement for pre- and post-work EnerGuide evaluations.
